EUA Workshop series: Towards an Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment

Due to the high interest in past workshops of this series and given the critical importance of the topic, this workshop is open to both EUA members and universities that are not EUA members, provided their National Rectors’ Conference is a member of the Association.

The third workshop on the initiative to reform research assessment will take place on 25 October 2022, 14.00-16.00 CEST.

In the third online workshop of this series, EUA will present the final version of the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, as well as the most recent developments regarding the governance and work of the future Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). Participants will have the opportunity to share their impressions in a Q&A session followed by active discussions in breakout groups.

Registrations are open until close of business on 21 October 2022. Participation is free of charge.

Please note that confirmation of registration will be sent within 2-3 working days.

25 October, 14.00-16.00 CEST

This online event is part of the workshop series ‘Towards an Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment’. The aim of the series is to provide EUA members with the information they need to make an informed decision about signing the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment and joining the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment. The first workshop of this series, entitled "Workshop I: Initiating the process of research assessment reform" took place on 22 April 2022. The second workshop, entitled “Recent developments in the research assessment reform process” took place on 28 June 2022.

The workshop will be of interest to institutional leaders, including rectors, vice-rectors and senior managers, as well as academic staff members in charge of research assessment and doctoral education. Members of the academic community, including researchers at all seniority levels, will also benefit from attending the workshop series.

Reviewing research assessment, as part of a reform of academic careers, is a priority for the European University Association. Therefore, EUA joined an initiative to reform research assessment initiated by the European Commission. The guiding aim of this initiative is to bring together a coalition of organisations committed to implementing reforms to current research assessment practices.
