EUA member University of Bologna is organising the third and last event of a trilogy called “Back to fundamentals of research”, aimed at promoting the founding values of research as the backbones of good science.
This event will foster an extensive discussion on ethics and academic freedom by bringing together institutional stakeholders and researchers to explore opportunities, challenges and best practices.
What new ethical concerns and potential risks for research freedom are we confronted with? What actions should institutions and researchers put in place to turn them into opportunities? Which are the measures to protect, facilitate, strengthen and optimize academic freedom? How to ensure an adequate balancing between opposite interests to build a responsible research ecosystem?
The use of new technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence, and the rapid changes in the geopolitical landscape deeply affect our research ecosystem and impact upon the different ethical dimensions of research. This event seeks to explore possible new ethical concerns and risks for research integrity and the countermeasures that institutions and researchers might adopt in order to turn them into opportunities.
The event will take place online and in-person on Monday, 2 December 2024, at Aula Giorgio Prodi, from 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Registration is required. For those attending online, a participation link will be sent via email to registered participants.
