The European Commission hosted the European Research and Innovation Days on 23-24 June. EUA participated in the event through various activities.
Notably, EUA President Michael Murphy joined Commissioner Mariya Gabriel as a speaker in the special plenary session “Towards a European Strategy for Universities – bridging education, research, innovation and service to society”. President Murphy addressed universities in the digital transition and their international competitiveness.
EUA Director of Research and Innovation, Stephane Berghmans, also participated in the event. He spoke during the workshop “The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Developing talents, advancing research”.
In preparation for the European Research and Innovation Days, EUA and the European Commission co-organised a workshop on engaging young entrepreneurs in shaping future EU research and innovation policy. Held on 9 June, the event was an opportunity to hear from young entrepreneurs from EUA member universities. They shared their insights on how to shape European research and innovation policy to accelerate the green transition.
EUA produced a video series on the young entrepreneurs’ interventions. Two of the young entrepreneurs discussed the outcomes of the workshop with Commissioner Mariya Gabriel on 24 June during the European Research and Innovation Days.
