New: Partnership between Erasmus Mundus and the Inter-University Exchange Project of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

12 December 2018

In 2019 for the first time Erasmus Mundus opens up to a new partnership model in the form of a joint call EU-Japan. The purpose of the joint call will be to select excellent consortia of European and Japanese universities to develop highly integrated joint master programmes and offer scholarships to students. Mobility of students and scholars between the EU and Japanese universities involved in projects will be a key feature of the action.

The partnership will indicatively co-fund 3 joint masters which will foster innovation and excellence in the European and Japanese higher education areas. These projects will be delivered by international consortia consisting of at least 3 HEIs from Erasmus+ Programme Countries and at least 1 HEI from Japan. All Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees conditions described below and in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide apply to projects co-funded by the EU-Japan partnership, except where otherwise specified.

For projects submitted to the EU-Japan joint call, read the guidance on the applicable award criteria. A dedicated "EMJMD-Partnership with Japan" call page will soon be available for applicants.
