Magna Charta Universitatum anniversary and signature of MCU2020, 16 – 17 June

20 May 2021

The Magna Charta Observatory (MCO) will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the Magna Charta Universitatum on 16 and 17 June, and will launch the new Magna Charta, the MCU2020, which makes the charter more global and more in line with today's world.

EUA Secretary General Amanda Crowfoot will be one of the keynote speakers on 17 June during session 4 “Reflections on key themes and future action”, where she will present EUA’s vision for 2030 - “Universities without walls”.

Under the title “University values and responsibilities: responding to the challenges of the future”, the event will focus on:

  • the changes which universities have faced recently;
  • their implications and the challenges which universities face now and will face in the future;
  • the new Magna Charta, MCU 2020, the need for it, the structure of it, how it differs from its predecessor and how universities might gain most value from engaging with it.

On 17 June, MCU 2020 will be launched and signed for the first time. EUA members are encouraged to sign, both if they have signed the Magna Charta Universitatum of 1988 and if they have not done it.

Registrations to the event are open and for free to anyone interested.
