The European University Association is starting a series of webinars to demystify the new European Research Area (ERA). ERA is in the middle of its first Policy Agenda, with 17 ongoing ERA actions, and its next Policy Agenda is being shaped. In this context, what does ERA actually mean for universities? Why should university leaders care about ERA? And how can universities get involved nationally in shaping ERA?
This first webinar introduced the new ERA to EUA members with the participation of ERA Forum co-chairs, respectively from the member states and European Commission. In addition, EUA presented the sector’s involvement and influence within ERA so far. CESAER, one of the 11 university associations involved in representing the sector in ERA, spoke on behalf of universities of science and technology.
Two subsequent webinars in 2023 will present and discuss two ERA actions of high importance for universities and their future: action 4 on research career on 17 October, and action 13 on the empowerment of universities in ERA on 16 November.
