Staff development in teaching has been identified as one of the drivers for further enhancing learning and teaching at higher education institutions (HEIs). Offering adequate (continued) professional development to teachers, and motivating them to engage in it through adequate recognition for teaching, are one of the most often cited recommendations throughout EUA’s learning and teaching activities since 2017.
The ‘Staff development in learning and teaching at European universities’ (STAFF-DEV) project aims to better understand and analyse how staff development is implemented at European HEIs, as well as how it is embedded into institutional strategies for learning and teaching and academic assessment. During this webinar, STAFF-DEV partners presented the first findings from the project, resulting from a Europe-wide survey, literature review and focus group research conducted in 2024.
