The third webinar of the EUA series "Toward Tirana 2024, the Bologna Process and developments in the EHEA" will provide a discussion on student-centred learning in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). This event takes place on 13 February 2024, from 14.00 to 15.00 CET.
The concept of student-centred learning (SCL) has an almost century-long history in education sciences. Over time, and as higher education institutions have granted increased attention to learning and teaching approaches, SCL has made its way into institutions’ strategies and policies, as pedagogies focusing on the learner, where the learning process is not only, or not primarily, about transfer of knowledge, but about deeper understanding and critical thinking. This entails shared responsibility for learning, between teachers and students, and a focus on students’ learning autonomy and their agency for pro-active, independent learning, discovery and reflection. Whilst not limited to a certain methodology, SCL should be both a mindset and a culture within higher education institutions.
In this webinar, speakers will share their experience and views on the implementation of the learning outcomes approach, explore how it has enhanced the implementation of student-centred learning at their institutions and refer to challenges observed. They will also discuss how curriculum design and delivery, as well as learning and teaching approaches and strategies, have evolved towards a student-centred approach.
Thérèse Zhang, Deputy Director for Higher Education Policy at EUA, will moderate the webinar.
Registrations will remain open until the start of the webinar. Participation is free of charge and open to all.
