The European Commission has launched a call for applications for the selection of members of the Expert Group on the Economic and Societal Impact of Innovation.

The objective of the group is be to provide policy advice to the Commission services which will be helpful in setting out the forward-looking agenda of DG RTD, but also for other DGs (EAC, CNECT, ECFIN, GROW, CLIMA, etc.) contributing thus to the entire range of EU policies.

The group will consist of up to 21 members, appointed in a personal capacity, with the task to assist the European Commission in relation to the implementation of existing Union legislation, programmes and policies.

The following criteria will be considered when assessing applications:

  • proven and relevant competence and experience, including at European and / or international level, in areas relevant to Research & Innovation (all applicants);
  • absence of circumstances that could give rise to a conflict of interest, including circumstances that could undermine an applicant’s independence;
  • international recognition for the depth, reliability, and originality of experts’ thinking in research and innovation, including non-technological innovation, related to the tasks of the group;
  • demonstrated practical experience in designing, managing, and implementing research and innovation policies in public or private entities;
  • confirmed advisory capacity on a European or international level;
  • good knowledge of the English language allowing active participation in the discussions.

The call for applications will be open until 15 July 2025, 12:00 Brussels time.
