In 2018, the Council of the European Union adopted a Recommendation on promoting automatic mutual recognition of qualifications and learning periods abroad.

The AR2030 project aims to contribute to achieving the Recommendation’s objectives by building on the outcomes of previous projects, specifically through the following activities:

  • strengthening institutional recognition practices by updating EUA’s self-assessment tool developed in the Erasmus+ co-funded ‘Spotlight on recognition’ project, and by guiding higher education institutions through its use;
  • promoting a common understanding of automatic recognition and supporting its implementation by raising awareness of the EHEA qualifications table;
  • streamlining recognition practices across the European Education Area via translations of the European Recognition Manual for Higher Education Institutions (EAR-HEI manual);
  • facilitating flexible learning pathways in higher education via an upgrade of the micro-credential evaluator.

In addition, the project aims to

  • strengthen national admissions office networks in Europe;
  • explore knowledge sharing between ENIC-NARIC centres, in order to support smooth, efficient, sustainable and high quality recognition in the European Education Area;
  • contribute to fair and smooth recognition at a global level via a compendium of good practice for operating a national information centre, thus supporting implementation of the UNESCO Global Convention on Higher Education and regional conventions such as the Lisbon Recognition Convention.

Target groups of the AR25 project are: ENIC-NARIC centres and their global counterparts; higher education institutions; national rectors’ conferences; quality assurance agencies; ministries of education; policy makers; students.
