The British University in Egypt, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Zayed University are extending an invitation to the COP28simulation. The deadline for applications is 6 September.
Stemming from the common goal of supporting the implementation of SDGs and the national and global commitment to accelerate climate action, the British University in Egypt and the TINDP organise the annual COPSimulation model. It is a youth-led climate conference bringing students together worldwide to mock the COP and simulate country delegates and representatives of international climate stakeholders.
Building upon last year's success and considering the COP28 being held in the UAE from 30 November - 12 December 2023, The British University in Egypt, the UNDP, and Zayed University proudly organise the second version of the COPsimulation model with the continued support of HE Mahmoud Mohieldin, the UN Climate Change High-level Champion for Egypt.
The COP28simulation will consist of three typical stages: an online capacity-building programme on climate literacy, international climate action, the role of youth in climate action diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution. This is followed by a COP28 Mock Conference where participants simulate country delegates, chief negotiators, and non-state actors. Outcomes of the conference will be drafted in the COP2Ssimulation Declaration, to be presented at the COP28-UAE.
Participants will be recruited from Egypt, UAE, UK, and all other countries to be skilled in diplomacy, negotiations, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. Also, to be trained on becoming country delegates, technical experts, and representatives of international organisations. Selected participants will be funded for the three-day mock conference in UAE in early November. Top participants might be able to participate in the COP28 activities in Dubai Expo City.
For more information, please read the official invitation and the COP28simulation Announcement Brochure.
