On 11 June, EUA held a meeting of its 2025-2027 Board in Brussels.

The occasion was the first formal meeting for new Board members, Angelika Epple (Germany), Gregor Majdič (Slovenia) and Manuel Tuñón de Lara (France), who were elected for four years by the EUA General Assembly in Riga in April. They joined Ivanka Popović (Serbia), who was re-elected in Riga for a second four-year term and serving Board members, Marcin Pałys (Poland), Maurizio Tira (Italy) and Wim van de Donk (the Netherlands), whose terms of office continue until 2027. The meeting was chaired by EUA President Josep M. Garrell.

The day before, an informal meeting between outgoing and incoming Board members marked the transition to EUA’s new leadership. It also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of previous Board members Paul Boyle and Anne Lequy, whose Board terms concluded in April, as well as Astrid Söderbergh Widding, who is stepping down from the EUA Board to take up a position with a research-funding organisation in Sweden from July.

To replace Astrid Söderbergh Widding, EUA will hold an online Board election at an extraordinary General Assembly on 2 October 2025. Further information for EUA members on participation and voting in the online General Assembly, together with Board candidate profiles, will be communicated in due course.

EUA looks forward to working with its members, affiliates and wider community under the direction of its new Board.
