The European University Association is pleased to announce that Sunniva Whittaker, rector of the University of Agder, Norway, has been elected to the EUA Board.

The Board election took place this morning during an extraordinary online meeting of EUA’s General Assembly.

Professor Whittaker was previously a member of EUA Council and Chair of Universities Norway (2021-2025). She takes office immediately and will serve as member of EUA’s Board until April 2029.

Sunniva Whittaker joins EUA President Josep M. Garrell (Ramon Lllull University, Spain) and seven other Board members – Angelika Epple (Bielefeld University, Germany), Gregor Majdič (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), Manuel Tuñón de Lara (University of Bordeaux, France), Marcin Pałys (University of Warsaw, Poland), Ivanka Popović (University of Belgrade), Maurizio Tira (University of Bresica, Italy) and Wim van de Donk (Tilburg University, Netherlands) – completing the composition of EUA’s Board. 

EUA congratulates Professor Whittaker on her election and extends thanks to the Association’s members for participating in this morning’s General Assembly.

The next EUA General Assembly will be hosted by Yeditepe University, Istanbul, Türkiye on 16 April, preceding the 2026 EUA Annual Conference.
